So i have been playing Project Blackout for about a week now and have come to notice how the Shotguns on this game are at almost equal range with a machine gun, last i had checked Shotguns do not have that far of a range to be able to one shot you from a fair distance. Or even more annoying the fact how it is capable of gaining a head shot from the same distance. It would seem they need to change the way this weapon works, i come from a lot of First Person Shooters and non have this powerful of a Shotgun. Like please get real, there is no way a player with a Shotgun should be able to overpower another player who might be using a machine gun at a fair distance of range between them. That is about the only thing i can really complain about for the moment till i get more into this game. But the one idea that they came out with that i absolutely love is how there is a small chance that a player's helmet can deflect a fired shot and and make the attacking player unable to gain a head shot till their next spawn. First time i have ever seen this or even heard of such an idea being put into a First Person Shooter, totally makes this game unique against others...:: DeWinters.
1. Shotguns IRL can still be effective from 100yds away with the proper load. Accuracy goes down, obviously, but even in the game the lethality of the gun deminishes a good bit as the distance grows.
2. SMG's should lose quite a bit of power and accuracy from such a range as well.
3. You are mis-understanding the "helmet deflection" idea. It says that you cannot take another shot to the head until you respawn, as in if you get shot in the head again there is no deflection.....you are dead. The attacking player is NOT affected by your helmet deflection. Hope that clears it up for you, though I guess I can see how one could get confused in the wording In-Game.
Shotguns are overpowered here compared to other FPS games; it's been discussed plenty of times. However, which would you mind more: a few OP shotguns, or a ton of OP rifles and SMGs? You kinda have to pick your poison here (for now at least).
The only game I've ever had problems with shotguns is BFBC2. Those are way too overpowered with the specializations.
Sure shotguns can be annoying, but in my opinion they aren't too much of a trouble. Whether they are to get nerfed or not in the future, I really don't care.
As for ImUndefined's question, I'd rather choose a few shotguns. ;)

this is a lol in itself. mp7 is EXTREMELY OP with the right titles equiped more so then the p90 ( i get WAY more headshots with the basic mp7, then my point p90.
if the shot guns were to loose some power they would become kinda useless... its a 70% 1HK right now from my experience,so if it became less powerful shot guns would have little chance against smg's. i hope they dont mess with the shotties cuz that would really suck. most of the maps are real tight wich makes them perfect for shotties and shotties shoot slow compared to most other guns.

Shotguns in PB ARE overpowered just as in BFBC2. There is no way a shotgun can kill you, let alone hit you, from clear across a map. If they cut even just 10% of the shotguns power it would be a good thing.
And every shotgun I ever fired in real life...not a single one of them would be as powerful as they are in PB.
i agree that its not realistic but that doesnt happen enough to take some power away from shotties ... its not realistic to shoot somebody in the head with a shooty from inches away and have the shot deflected by a helmet but its just things u live with in a game.

I loled too . But it's fact I guess. This is the same with the P90. People like me says it's overpowered, while others say it's ok the way it is. Personally, I don't think the damage the P90 does to players in short range should be that powerful and acurate. :) But again, that's only my point of view. Some people look at it differently I guess. It all depends on the developers...
in my opinion guns are fair
shotgun takes some time between each shot so it usually takes a lot of time to kill someone with a shotgun when far and it is not easy with shotgun to kill someone in a single shot when far.
so if someone is moving then it becomes very hard to kill him with shotgun before he kills you
that is why most people use assault rifle or smg
just don't judge shotguns with its power, shotguns are supposed to be more powerful but look at their rate of fire too. With my mp7 i can shoot plenty of shots before anyone shoot 2 shots with shotgun and it got a nice accuracy too, so high chance of taking headshot.
well in my opinion the guns are just as they should be, i never feel overpowered by an opponent with shotgun until and unless he is camping and when i am using shotgun i can't rush i have to camp and wait for opponent to come closer
