Just leave.

.

Goodbye threads just leave a bad taste in my mouth.

.

I mean other then giving a reason to leave, which is going to be a downer anyways, all you to is give a message to people you don't care enough to stay for anyways. And if there were people you cared for you could just as easily contact them via msn, or even a convo.
.

(not even directed at anyone, I just reminiced over a handful of people that left that I really liked)

So?

  • Agree (29.2%)
  • Disagree (12.5%)
  • Depends, explain (12.5%)
  • All drama queens, the lot of em. (4.2%)
  • Dude, if it bothers you so much don't read em... (33.3%)
  • But I must proclaim my departure to my loving followers! (8.3%)

I did it because my circumstance is a little different from others. But I usually am curious as to why people go, so I'd rather people still make them...

This may be the case sometimes, but other times there is a reason for leaving that should be explained. If it's just "yeah, I'm gone cause I hate everything," then I'd agree, though I personally don't mind seeing them. But sometimes people leave with a good reason, or sometimes people leave with a reason to come back. Other times it's an attempt at posing the question "can anyone convince me to stay?" Which, in some cases, works for the better.

It all just depends, really. IMO.

If it bothers you, don't read it.

Done.

Nothing wrong with an nice goodbye, or a sarcastic one.

That was huge.

Types;

- Attention

- Acknowledgement of departure

- To let those they cannot get hold of

- Attention to be pulled back

- Drama

- Because they can

- No one forces you to read the strings of words that form a sentence followed by a paragraph just like how you're probably reading this, too

I was one of the biggest deals on this forum, and I didn't have/need a goodbye thread.

I think people should be allowed to make quitting threads if they actually quit.

Many lols were had.

Don't take it the wrong way, but the only thing you've been to me is a good source of humor when you tease oversensitive drama queens.

@OP: If it's just to say "fml GC has gone to the dogs now, I'm out", then I'd agree. But if it's to make your friends aware so they can still hit you up in some way, and/or try to convince you to stay, and/or to include a lengthy essay about GC's history that nobody will read anyway, then I'd disagree.

I'm split two ways on this:

  • If you're leaving, but will end up coming back, do not bother posting a 'Goodbye!' thread.
  • If you are in fact leaving (permanently or a will be gone for a very long time), I think you should be able to post, but no one says you have to do it.
